Job Description: Senior Marketing Director

The Senior Marketing Director will be responsible for shaping, managing and optimizing our marketing strategies across Sittercity and Chime, and will contribute to the development of a local marketing “blueprint” for the accelerated expansion of Chime.

The right candidate will combine multi-channel experience with strategic discipline that is rooted in both business analytics and brand insight. S/he will be experienced managing internal teams as well as external resources, with strong communication skills and an ability to understand our challenges, identify priorities and organize for efficient implementation. S/he will also be a “doer” who is capable of managing some channels directly, to complement our team resources. And ideally, s/he will have experience in marketing for both web and mobile apps.  

This role will report to the CMO and will be supported by managers responsible for day to day execution of key channels including performance marketing, CRM, PR & influencer marketing and content marketing.

The candidate hired will preferably be based in Chicago but candidates based in New York City will also be considered. 

As Senior Marketing Director, you will:

  • Help define, track and report on marketing KPIs that align with our business goals
  • Create and implement the cross-channel marketing strategy for both brands
  • Create and manage marketing budgets and resourcing plans
  • Coordinate our team’s efforts across key existing channels: SEM, display, social, PR & influencers, promotions & partnerships and affiliate marketing
  • Lead the development of and staffing for a broader content & grassroots strategy
  • Identity new tactical opportunities — especially for marketing the Chime app
  • Analyze and report on performance/attribution data in an integrated, clear manner
  • Help manage external relationships, including media platforms, consultants and creative agencies
  • Collaborate with and present to business leadership
  • Participate constructively in marketing team reviews and critiques
  • Provide input into brand, product, service experience and operations plans

  • Category interest: strong affinity towards both childcare and technology, with an innate understanding of the motivations of parents
  • Experience in a high-growth service or technology business; experience with other app-based or on-demand businesses a plus
  • Experience working in a hands-on, action-oriented culture, with a proven ability to work well under pressure and adapt to change quickly
  • Proficiency with spreadsheets, data analysis and visualization software a plus
  • Strong written and verbal communication and language skills.

Experience required:

  • At least 8-10 years of experience in digital marketing for websites and/or mobile apps, ideally with offline experience as well
  • Experience with performance marketing channels
  • Experience with awareness, content, social and grassroots campaigns
  • Experience with database and analytic tools, such as SQL, R and Tableau
  • Familiarity with digital marketing platforms and tools — with any of the following a plus: Google Analytics, Adwords, Exact Target, Intercom, Impact Radius
  • Experience utilizing marketing technology tools to enable attribution and tracking across mobile and desktop marketing campaigns
  • Demonstrated success working with both established and new consumer brands
  • Experience working for brands focused on parents / moms a plus
  • Experience managing internal teams and external agencies
  • BA required, MBA a plus
